My client has inherited a property from her deceased father in 2015 and she along with other beneficiaries have recently sold the property and now about to file the CGT arising from the gain. She has been residing in the same house since 2011 and have been full time carer for her parents and made payments towards all the expenditures in relation to maintaining the house since then. She believes she is entitled to the principal private residence relief as she has been residing in it since 2011 until now. Is she eligible for the relief as in order to receive the relief she is to be the principal private owner and as per the definition of ownership, one need to incur some expense towards owing the property?
