Father transferring land ( gift.. no consideration ) to son. Farm land was rented by father, under qualifying EU lease.. which ceased on 31/1217. Land was not transferred legally until Oct 2018 .. ( due to solicitor being ill.. son getting married. etc ). Son put a new qualifying lease in place ( with same farmer) from 1/11/2018. Will the fact that there was a considerable gap between cessation of fathers qualifying lease..(31/12/17) and legal transfer of land.( October 2018) and a new qualifying lease put in place. ( 1/11/2018) . cause a problem with the Farmer claiming retirement relief .
