Succession Act 1965 section 39

Calendars of grants

Section 39 requires the President of the High Court to ensure that official calendars (registers) are compiled listing all grants of probate and administration, and that these calendars are distributed to and accessible at district probate registries.

  • The President of the High Court must arrange for calendars to be prepared in the Probate Office, recording all grants of probate and administration made both centrally and in district probate registries.
  • Each calendar entry must include: the date of the grant, where it was made, the deceased's name, address and date of death, the names and descriptions of the executors or administrators, and the value of the estate (if any).
  • A copy of every completed calendar must be sent to each district probate registry, where it must be kept on file.
  • Members of the public may inspect the calendars and their copies in accordance with directions given by the President of the High Court.
