Further levy on certain financial institutions

Section 126AB imposes a revised bank levy on four named Irish financial institutions for the years 2024 to 2026, charged as a percentage of their eligible deposits in a specified base year.

  • Applies to Allied Irish Banks plc, EBS DAC, permanent TSB plc and The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland.
  • Charged for 2024, 2025 and 2026, with a base year of 2022 for the first two years and 2024 for 2026.
  • Levy rate is 0.112% of eligible deposits for 2024 and 2025, reducing to 0.1025% for 2026.
  • Each bank must deliver a statement and pay the duty by 20 October each year, with interest on late payment and no tax deduction allowed.
