Certain investment certificates

Section 85A provides that stamp duty is not chargeable on the issue, transfer or redemption of an investment certificate, within the meaning of section 267N of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997, being an instrument that complies with Islamic finance rules.

  • No stamp duty arises on the issue of an investment certificate.
  • No stamp duty arises on the transfer of an investment certificate.
  • No stamp duty arises on the redemption of an investment certificate.
  • The relief applies to certificates within the meaning of section 267N of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997, which covers Sharia-compliant (Islamic finance) instruments.
