Records

Paragraph 18 of Schedule 2 requires a chargeable person (paying agent) to maintain detailed records of all specified dividend income payments and to retain those records for six years.

  • A chargeable person must keep separate accounts for each recipient of specified dividend income, recording name, address, amounts, types, and tax deducted.
  • Where payments are made from public revenue, the records must identify the specific public revenue source for each amount.
  • All records must be retained for six years from the date the payment was made.
  • Records must be produced to a Revenue inspector on request, within the timeframe specified in the written notice.
