Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 section 848Q

Annual returns

Section 848Q required qualifying savings managers registered under section 848R to file annual returns with Revenue in respect of the special savings incentive accounts (SSIAs) they managed.

  • A qualifying savings manager was required to make an annual return (including a nil return) to the Revenue Commissioners for each year of assessment, on or before 28 February in the following year.
  • The return had to specify biographical and financial details for each SSIA under the manager's control, including the account holder's name, address, PPS Number, account commencement date, total subscriptions, total tax credits, and details of any gains and related tax liabilities.
  • The return also had to contain a declaration, in a form prescribed or authorised by Revenue, confirming that to the best of the manager's knowledge and belief the SSIA conditions were being complied with and the information in the return was correct.
  • The requirement applied to every qualifying savings manager who was or had been registered under section 848R, ensuring that even managers whose accounts had since closed remained subject to the reporting obligation for relevant years.
