Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 section 230

National Treasury Management Agency

Section 230 exempts the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and certain Fund investment vehicles from corporation tax, and allows payments by the NTMA to be made without deduction of income tax.

  • All profits arising to the NTMA are exempt from corporation tax, regardless of any other provision in the Corporation Tax Acts.
  • Profits arising to a Fund investment vehicle under the National Treasury Management Agency (Amendment) Act 2014 are also exempt from corporation tax, provided the Minister for Finance is the sole beneficial owner.
  • Profits arising to a relevant Fund investment vehicle under the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund Act 2024 are likewise exempt, again provided the Minister for Finance is the sole beneficial owner.
  • Any interest, annuity or other annual payment made by the NTMA is paid gross, that is, without deduction of income tax.
