Statement of qualification (SURE) by qualifying company

Section 508C requires a qualifying company to issue a statement of qualification (SURE) to a specified individual in respect of a relevant investment, and sets out the content and timing requirements for that statement.

  • A qualifying company must issue a statement of qualification (SURE) to a specified individual confirming that the company is a qualifying company in respect of the relevant investment.
  • The statement must contain prescribed details about the company (name, address and tax reference number), the share issue (date, class, number of shares and amount subscribed) and the individual (name, address and PPS number).
  • The statement must also include the amount of the investment qualifying for relief after any required reductions, be in the form directed by Revenue, contain a declaration that it is a statement of qualification (SURE) under this section, and include any other information Revenue may reasonably require.
  • A qualifying company may not issue a statement of qualification (SURE) after 31 December in the year of assessment following the year of assessment in which the shares were issued.
