Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 section 34

Section 34 exempts from tax certain government stock, dividends and interest held at the Bank of Ireland.

  • Stock, dividends or interest transferred to Bank of Ireland accounts in the name of the Minister for Finance under any statute are exempt from tax.
  • The Bank of Ireland must provide the Revenue Commissioners with an account of the total amount of such stock, dividends or interest.
  • Stock, dividends or interest belonging to the State are also exempt from tax, regardless of the name in which they stand in the Bank of Ireland's books.
  • These exemptions apply specifically to holdings recorded in the books of the Bank of Ireland.
