Declaration on maturity

Section 848I sets out the declaration that a qualifying individual must make to the savings manager when a special savings incentive account (SSIA) matures.

  • On maturity of an SSIA, the qualifying individual must complete and sign a written declaration in a form prescribed or authorised by the Revenue Commissioners and give it to the qualifying savings manager.
  • The declaration must include the individual's name, permanent residence address, PPS Number and date of birth, and must contain a reference to the offence of making a false declaration under section 848T.
  • The individual must declare that throughout the life of the account they were the beneficial owner of the qualifying assets, held only one SSIA, and were resident or ordinarily resident in the State.
  • The individual must also declare that subscriptions came from their own or their spouse's funds without recourse to borrowing, and that they did not assign or pledge the qualifying assets as security for a loan.
