Appeals officer

Section 115 provides for the appointment of appeals officers from among the staff of the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority to hear and determine appeals.

• The Minister must appoint a panel of suitable persons from the Authority's staff to serve as appeals officers and consider appeals lodged under the Act.
• Each appeals officer must act independently when carrying out their functions under the legislation.
• The Minister has the power to revoke an appeals officer's appointment, but must provide stated reasons for doing so.
• The appeals framework ensures that decisions made under the automatic enrolment system can be challenged through a formal, independent review process.
