Delegation of functions

Section 27 provides for the delegation of the chief executive's functions to members of staff of the Authority.

  • The chief executive may delegate functions to a member of staff, unless the Board has specified that a particular function must not be delegated.
  • A staff member who receives delegated functions is accountable to the chief executive, while the chief executive remains accountable to the Board for all delegated functions.
  • The chief executive may revoke any delegation at any time.
  • "Functions" includes functions that the Authority has delegated to the chief executive, except where the Authority has imposed a condition that the function must not be further delegated.
