Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 section 14

Membership of either House of Oireachtas, European Parliament or local authority

Section 14 sets out the circumstances in which a person is disqualified from membership of the Board of the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority due to holding or being nominated for certain political offices.

• A person cannot serve on the Board while nominated as a member of Seanad Éireann or elected to either House of the Oireachtas or the European Parliament.
• Disqualification also applies where a person is entitled under Standing Orders to sit in either House of the Oireachtas.
• A person deemed to have been elected to the European Parliament under the European Parliament Elections Act 1997 is likewise disqualified.
• Members of a local authority, or those entitled under local authority standing orders to sit as members, are also disqualified from Board membership.
