Functions of chief executive

Section 26 sets out the functions of the chief executive of the Authority and provides for his or her accountability to the Board.

  • The chief executive is responsible for implementing Board policies and decisions and for managing the staff, administration and business of the Authority on a day-to-day basis.
  • The chief executive is accountable to the Board for the efficient and effective management of the Authority and for the proper performance of his or her functions.
  • The chief executive must provide the Board with whatever information it requires, including information on financial matters relating to the performance of those functions.
  • The chief executive may also make proposals to the Board on any matter relating to its functions and must carry out any other functions the Authority may determine.
