Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 section 79

Notification and verification of death

Section 79 sets out how the Authority is notified of and verifies deaths for the purposes of the death benefit provisions.

  • The Authority must publish on its website the requirements for notifying and verifying deaths.
  • A death may be notified by an authorised person in accordance with those published requirements, or identified by the Authority itself from the records of the General Register Office (Oifig an Ard-ChlΓ‘raitheora).
  • If the Authority cannot verify a notified death after following its published verification steps, the notification is disregarded.
  • The published requirements therefore govern both who may notify a death and the verification process the Authority must follow.
