Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 section 17

Meetings

Section 17 sets out the rules for how the Board holds its meetings, including chairing arrangements, voting procedures, quorum requirements, and the use of remote communication.

  • The Board must hold as many meetings as needed to carry out its functions; the chairperson chairs the meeting if present, otherwise the attending members choose a chairperson from among themselves.
  • Questions requiring a vote are decided by a simple majority of members present and voting; where votes are tied, the chairperson has a second or casting vote.
  • The quorum is half the total number of members currently holding office, rounded up to the next whole number if necessary, unless the Minister directs otherwise.
  • Meetings may be held by any means of communication that allows all participants to hear and be heard simultaneously, and a member attending electronically is treated as present for all purposes.
