Establishment day

Section 7 provides that the Minister shall appoint a day, by ministerial order, to be the establishment day for the purposes of the Act.

• The Minister is required to appoint an establishment day by ministerial order.
• The establishment day is the date on which the automatic enrolment system formally comes into existence.
• Until the order is made, the provisions of the Act that depend on the establishment day cannot take effect.
• The use of a ministerial order allows the commencement date to be set when the necessary administrative and operational arrangements are in place.
