Definitions

Section 6 defines the key terms used throughout this Part of the Act, covering the Board, its chief executive, committees, and related bodies.

• The "Board" is the body established under section 10, and the "chief executive" is the person appointed under section 25 to lead it.
• A "committee of the Board" means any committee established under sections 18, 19 or 20 of the Act.
• The "establishment day" is the date officially appointed under section 7 for the commencement of the Board's operations, and "local authority" carries the same meaning as in the Local Government Act 2001.
• An "Oireachtas Committee" means a committee of either or both Houses of the Oireachtas, but excludes the Public Accounts Committee and the Committees on Members' Interests.
