Actuarial review

Section 10 requires the Minister to arrange regular actuarial reviews of the Social Insurance Fund to assess its long-term financial sustainability.

  • The Minister must commission actuarial reviews to assess whether the Fund can meet future benefit payment obligations
  • Reviews must consider whether contribution income is sufficient to support projected benefits and any other relevant factors
  • Reports must be laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas within six months of each review's completion
  • Reviews must occur at least every five years, with the first having been due by 31 December 2002
