Death benefit - funeral expenses

Section 84 establishes the death benefit grant available to help cover funeral costs when a qualifying person dies.

• A one-off grant is payable to help meet funeral expenses following the death of an insured person.
• The standard grant amount is €850.
• Regulations may prescribe a lower amount in specified circumstances.
• The grant is generally not payable where the death occurs outside Ireland, unless regulations provide otherwise.
