Exclusion of persons in full-time employment

Section 191 sets out the restrictions on receiving supplementary welfare allowance while engaged in full-time remunerative work, and the exceptions to these restrictions.

  • Supplementary welfare allowance is generally not payable during periods of full-time remunerative work.
  • Regulations may prescribe specific circumstances where the allowance can continue despite full-time employment.
  • The Minister can delay the restriction for certain groups starting full-time work.
  • The restriction does not apply to those with physical or mental disabilities whose earning capacity is substantially reduced.
