Payment while in an institution

Section 161K provides for the continuation of blind welfare allowance when a recipient is admitted to an institution.

  • A person already receiving blind welfare allowance may continue to receive it after being admitted to an institution.
  • The entitlement to continue receiving the allowance is conditional upon meeting prescribed circumstances.
  • The duration of continued payment is determined by regulations rather than being indefinite.
  • This provision has not yet been commenced and so is not currently in operation.
