Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 141C

Giving of notice under section 141A or 141B

Section 141C establishes the requirements for the form in which notices must be given when a jobseeker's allowance claimant refuses or fails to attend activation meetings or participate in prescribed schemes, programmes or courses.

  • Notices issued under sections 141A (failure to attend activation meetings) or 141B (failure to participate in prescribed schemes, programmes or courses) must always be given in writing.
  • The written notice is the mandatory minimum requirement that must be satisfied in all cases.
  • In addition to the written notice, the notice may also be given in any other form considered appropriate by the Department.
  • Electronic form is specifically recognised as an acceptable additional method of giving notice.
