Disqualification

Section 161L provides for regulations to be made that can disqualify a person from receiving blind welfare allowance if they fail, without good cause, to comply with specified requirements.

  • Regulations may be made to disqualify claimants who fail to comply with specified requirements without good cause.
  • Requirements may include attending or submitting to medical or other examinations or treatment.
  • Claimants may be required to make themselves available to meet with a departmental officer regarding their claim.
  • The list of requirements that may be specified in the regulations is not exhaustive and can extend beyond those expressly mentioned.
