Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 66

Increases for qualified adult and qualified children

Section 66 sets out the increases to weekly jobseeker's benefit for claimants with dependent adults and children.

  • Jobseeker's benefit increases by €168.60 per week (or €109.20 for certain claimants) for one qualified adult.
  • Additional increases apply for qualified children: €58.00 for each child under 12, and €78.00 for each child aged 12 or over.
  • Child increases are halved where the child also lives with the claimant's spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who is not themselves a qualified adult.
  • No child increase is payable if the spouse, civil partner or cohabitant's weekly income exceeds the prescribed limit.
