Interpretation

Section 186B provides key definitions in relation to domiciliary care allowance.

  • An "institution" covers hospitals, convalescent homes, children's disability homes and similar residential care establishments where costs are met by the HSE or Department of Education.
  • An "international organisation" means intergovernmental bodies such as the United Nations, EU institutions and the Council of Europe.
  • A "qualified child" and "qualified person" are defined in sections 186C and 186D respectively.
  • These definitions determine entitlement to domiciliary care allowance for a child.
