Conditions for receipt

Section 64 sets out the contribution conditions that must be met to qualify for jobseeker's benefit in Ireland.

  • Claimants need at least 104 weeks of employment contributions (or 156 weeks for self-employment) since first entering insurance
  • Recent contributions are also required: either 39 weeks (13 qualifying) in the second-last contribution year, or 26 qualifying weeks in each of the second-last and third-last years
  • Weekly earnings or income must exceed €300 in the governing contribution year, or meet specified lower thresholds based on when unemployment began
  • Reduced contribution requirements apply to older claims, and regulations may modify these conditions
