Rate of payment

Section 186F establishes the rate at which domiciliary care allowance is paid as a monthly allowance to qualified persons, and provides for a reduced rate in certain circumstances.

• Qualified persons receive a monthly domiciliary care allowance funded by the Oireachtas.
• The allowance is paid at the scheduled rate specified in Part 5 of Schedule 4, currently €380.00 per month per child.
• Payment continues for as long as the person remains a qualified person.
• Regulations may provide for a reduced rate where the qualified child is resident in an institution and already receives an allowance under section 186E(2).
