Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 245

Statutory declarations

Section 245 allows prescribed forms to require claimants to verify their statements by statutory declarations.

• Application forms prescribed under regulations may require claimants to verify some or all of their statements by statutory declaration (a formal legal oath).
• A deciding officer may take and receive the statutory declaration.
• Any other officer of the Minister may also take and receive the declaration.
• The Minister may authorise any other person to take and receive statutory declarations for this purpose.
