Data exchange - correction of inaccurate information

Section 270 requires a specified body that discovers inaccurate information has been shared to verify the correct details with the person concerned and notify the other specified body of the correction.

  • Applies where information shared between specified bodies under sections 266, 267, 268 or 269 turns out to be inaccurate.
  • The specified body that discovers the error must confirm the correct information directly with the person concerned.
  • Once the correct information has been confirmed, the discovering body must advise the other specified body of the amended details.
  • The obligation falls on whichever specified body first identifies the inaccuracy.
