Rate of benefit

Section 68E sets out how the weekly rate of jobseeker's benefit for self-employed persons is calculated, including circumstances that trigger reductions and how final amounts are rounded.

  • The standard weekly rate of jobseeker's benefit (self-employed) is as set out in column (2) of Part 1 of Schedule 2.
  • A reduction of €90 per week applies where the claimant fails to attend required activation meetings or participate in specified schemes, programmes, or courses.
  • For each day of insurable employment during the payment week, the benefit is reduced by 20%.
  • The final weekly payment is rounded to the nearest 10 cent.
