Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 244A

Information to be supplied by claimants and beneficiaries for profiling and activation purposes

Section 244A empowers the Minister to prescribe the type and format of information that claimants and beneficiaries must provide, to support eligibility decisions and needs assessments.

  • The Minister may specify what information claimants or beneficiaries must supply, and in what form, if it would assist decision-making on benefit entitlement.
  • This covers decisions on initial eligibility to claim, ongoing entitlement to receive benefits, and assessments of training, education or development needs.
  • Decisions may be made by deciding officers, bureau officers, designated persons or any other persons with a decision-making role in the benefits process.
  • The prescribed information requirements may differ according to the category of claimant or beneficiary and the type of benefit involved.
