Medical examination

Section 185 requires persons receiving full-time care to attend medical examinations and provides for disqualification of the carer's allowance if they fail to do so without good cause.

• A person receiving full-time care must attend any medical or other examinations required by regulations.
• This obligation applies where their carer is entitled to or receiving carer's allowance or a payment under section 186A.
• If the person being cared for fails to attend required examinations without good cause, regulations may disqualify the carer from receiving the allowance.
• The disqualification affects both standard carer's allowance and section 186A payments.
