Condition for receipt

Section 131 sets out the contribution conditions that must be met to qualify for guardian's payment (contributory).

  • Guardian's payment (contributory) requires a PRSI contribution record linked to the orphan's family.
  • Either a parent or a step-parent of the orphan must have the necessary qualifying contributions.
  • The minimum requirement is 26 contribution weeks of qualifying contributions.
  • Regulations may modify these contribution conditions.
