Period of payment

Section 236 provides for continued payment of certain social welfare benefits for a limited period when a person takes up employment.

  • A person who begins employment may receive a continued payment for up to a maximum of 13 weeks.
  • The payment starts from the date specified in the regulations.
  • The weekly rate of the continued payment remains fixed for the duration of the payment period.
  • No change in the person's circumstances during that period will affect the weekly rate payable.
