Continuity of repealed enactments

Section 361 ensures that the consolidation of previous social welfare laws into this single Act does not disrupt the legal continuity of rights, obligations, or actions established under those earlier laws.

• The repeal of earlier social welfare enactments and their replacement by this Act does not break the continuity of the law.
• Any reference in legislation or documents to a provision of this Act is also taken to cover the corresponding provision in the old repealed laws, for the periods when those old provisions were in effect.
• Any reference in legislation or documents to a provision of the old repealed laws is also taken to cover the corresponding provision of this Act, for the periods when this Act has effect.
• This two-way cross-referencing applies only where the nature of the subject matter permits, preserving both historical and ongoing legal effect.
