Specified bodies

Schedule 5 lists the organisations that are authorised to use Personal Public Service Numbers (PPSNs), public services cards, and data-sharing arrangements under sections 262 to 270 of the Act.

• Paragraph 1 lists the bodies authorised for all PPSN and data-sharing purposes under sections 262 to 270, including Government Ministers, the Revenue Commissioners, the HSE, local authorities, education and training boards, and a wide range of State agencies and voluntary hospitals.
• Paragraph 2 lists additional bodies authorised specifically for data exchange relating to education and training under section 266, including schools, universities, and other educational institutions.
• The voluntary hospitals listed in paragraph 1 include major institutions such as Beaumont Hospital, the Mater, St. James's, St. Vincent's, the Rotunda, and the National Maternity Hospital, among others.
• The Minister may amend the list of specified bodies by regulation — adding, removing, or updating entries in paragraphs 1 and 2 without requiring primary legislation.
