Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 116

Rate of pension

Section 116 sets out the weekly rate of State Pension (Transition), a payment which is no longer available to new claimants.

  • The weekly rate of State Pension (Transition) was specified in column (2) of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Act.
  • This pension was payable to people who had reached the qualifying age but had not yet reached full State Pension (Contributory) age.
  • An additional increase was available where a qualified adult (typically a spouse or partner) had attained pensionable age before 2 January 2014.
  • This pension is no longer payable; it was phased out when the State Pension age was standardised at 66.
