Discharge, variation or lapse or attachment of earnings order

Section 354, which previously dealt with the discharge, variation or lapse of attachment of earnings orders, has been repealed.

  • Section 354 originally provided rules for discharging, varying or allowing attachment of earnings orders to lapse.
  • Attachment of earnings orders were a mechanism for recovering social welfare overpayments directly from a person's earnings through their employer.
  • This section was repealed by section 7 of the Social Welfare and Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2024.
  • The repeal means that the provisions formerly contained in this section no longer have legal effect.
