Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 68P

Regulations for purposes of Chapter

Section 68P sets out the Minister's authority to make regulations governing the Covid-19 pandemic unemployment payment scheme.

  • The Minister may make regulations to give full effect to the Covid-19 pandemic unemployment payment provisions, but only with consent from the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
  • Regulations may address how increases for qualified adults or qualified children are treated when those dependants have their own separate entitlement to the pandemic unemployment payment.
  • The Minister may prescribe activation requirements for payment recipients and specify how self-employment earnings are to be calculated for partially self-employed claimants.
  • When making regulations, the Minister must consider the impact of Covid-19 on contributors, government health and economic policies, and the efficient use of resources.
