Conditions for grant of supplementary welfare allowance

Section 195 sets out the conditions that a deciding officer may impose on a person claiming supplementary welfare allowance.

  • A deciding officer has discretionary power to make supplementary welfare allowance conditional on meeting certain requirements.
  • The claimant may be required to register for employment in a manner specified by the Minister.
  • The claimant must satisfy the same availability-for-work and genuinely-seeking-work conditions that apply to jobseeker's allowance under section 141.
  • The claimant must apply for all other statutory benefits or assistance to which they may be entitled, including benefits from countries outside Ireland.
