Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 215

Rate of allowance (including increases for qualified adult and qualified children)

Section 215 sets out the weekly rate of farm assist and how it is adjusted for dependants, and provides the means-testing rules that reduce or extinguish the payment as the claimant's weekly means rise.

  • The basic weekly rate of farm assist is €254.00, with increases of €168.60 for a qualified adult, €58.00 for each qualified child under 12, and €78.00 for each qualified child aged 12 or over who normally resides with the claimant.
  • Only one qualified adult increase may be claimed at a time, unless regulations specifically provide otherwise.
  • Farm assist is means-tested on a euro-for-euro basis: for every €1 of weekly means, the scheduled rate is reduced by €1, with the full rate payable only where means are below €1.
  • Where the claimant's weekly means equal or exceed the scheduled rate (including any dependant increases), no farm assist is payable at all.
