Interpretation

Section 161 provides key definitions used in relation to blind pension.

  • "Civil partner" includes a former civil partner whose civil partnership has been legally dissolved.
  • "Spouse" includes a former spouse whose marriage has been legally dissolved.
  • Both relationship definitions require the dissolution to be recognised as valid in Ireland.
  • "Weekly means" is calculated by dividing the person's yearly means by 52, subject to specific rules in Schedule 3.
