Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 section 111

Rate of pension

Section 111 sets out the weekly rates of State Pension (Contributory), structured around five age-referenced bands from age 66 to age 70.

  • The State Pension (Contributory) operates on a tiered system with five age-referenced rates applying at ages 66, 67, 68, 69, and 70 years respectively.
  • Weekly personal rates rise progressively from €299.30 at age 66 to €363.90 at age 70, rewarding those who defer claiming their pension.
  • Increases for qualified adults also rise with the pensioner's age, from €199.40 at age 66 to €242.50 at age 70, with additional top-ups where the qualified adult has reached pensionable age.
  • Standard increases apply across all age bands for qualified children (€58 under 12; €78 aged 12 or over), living alone (€22), attaining age 80 (€10), and island residency (€20).
