Rates of assistance – ages 22 and 23 years

Section 142B previously set out reduced rates of supplementary welfare allowance for claimants aged 22 and 23, but has since been repealed.

  • This section originally introduced age-related reduced rates of supplementary welfare allowance for persons aged 22 and 23 years.
  • It was first enacted by the Social Welfare and Pensions (No. 2) Act 2009 and amended several times between 2010 and 2019.
  • The section has been repealed and no longer has any operative effect.
  • Standard supplementary welfare allowance rates now apply regardless of whether the claimant is aged 22 or 23.
