Disqualification

Section 61J empowers the Minister to make regulations disqualifying a parent from receiving parent's benefit if they engage in work during the benefit period.

  • Regulations may disqualify a relevant parent or surviving parent from receiving parent's benefit.
  • Disqualification applies where the parent engages in any form of insurable employment or self-employment during the benefit period.
  • The prohibition extends to employment covered by occupational injuries insurance.
  • Certain specific categories of employment and self-employment listed in Schedule 1 are also caught by these rules.
