Power to make single payment for exceptional need

Section 201 provides for the payment of supplementary welfare allowance as a single payment to meet exceptional needs.

  • A designated person or deciding officer may grant a single payment of supplementary welfare allowance
  • The decision must be reasonable having regard to all the circumstances of the case
  • The payment is intended to meet an exceptional need
  • The exceptional need does not have to be unforeseen
