Disqualifications-attending a course of study

Section 148 restricts entitlement to jobseeker's allowance for persons attending full-time courses of study at recognised educational institutions.

  • Full-time students are generally barred from receiving jobseeker's allowance while studying.
  • Exceptions may apply only in prescribed circumstances, subject to specific conditions and time limits.
  • The restriction covers courses at schools, universities, institutes of technology, and other recognised higher education institutions.
  • Recent school leavers and students between academic years are treated as still attending a course of study for specified periods.
