Occupational injuries insurance

Section 70 establishes mandatory insurance protection for all employees against accidents arising in the course of their work.

  • All employees in insurable employment are automatically covered for occupational injuries, regardless of their age.
  • The insurance protects against personal injury caused by accidents that arise out of and during the course of employment.
  • Any reference to "occupational injuries insurance" elsewhere in the Act means the insurance established by this section.
  • Regulations may extend specified occupational injuries benefits to prescribed classes of persons, subject to prescribed conditions.
